PARIS F&B LIST
In a city perfect for strolling, dining, and discovering art, there’s no shortage of places to explore. Below are some food and beverage highlights from a Paris trip earlier this summer.
Wine Bars: Montezuma Café (records & natural wine, yes, please); Les Amoureuses bar à vins (chic & moody); Avant Comptoir de la Terre (small plates, the most delicious bread & cultured butter, and of course, wine)
Restaurants: Le Mary Celeste (natural wine, oysters, small plates; one of my favorite meals of the trip); Localino (the most amazing pasta worth the gluten splurge); Chez Janou (good vibes and great steak); La Maison Rose (charming café in the Montmartre district recommended by a seasoned traveler); La Cremerie (natural wines, yummy shishito peppers with red pepper flakes)
Sweets: Bachir (delicious Lebanese, organic ice cream with a unique “stretchy” yet creamy texture and paired with crushed pistachios); Angiolo (this ice cream and sorbet spot was equally sophisticated as it was decadent); Folderol (natural wine and ice cream pairings; sadly we didn’t make it during this visit… a reason to return)
CLEAN & SIMPLE ICE CREAM
Finally, a great tasting, clean ice cream for those times when I’m not motivated to make my own.
Frönen keeps it simple, using just a handful of ingredients and sweetening only with honey or coconut sugar. Unlike many other dairy-free brands — which often contain refined sugar, sugar alcohols like erythritol, gums, and “natural flavors” — Frönen skips the questionable extras (see examples below).
You can find the brand at Sprouts and a variety of other stores. Enjoy!
MODERN WISDOM: Dr. Michael Eisenberg - How to Protect & Improve Your Fertility as a Man
While this discussion doesn’t delve deeply into lifestyle and environmental factors — such as exposure to microplastics, processed food, etc. — it does help dismantle taboos and extends an important invitation for men to engage in the fertility conversation.
Dr. Michael Eisenberg, a urologist at Stanford Health Care, emphasizes the role of diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management in supporting male fertility, noting that men in poorer health tend to have lower sperm quality. Fertility is often framed as a women’s issue, but as Dr. Eisenberg points out, “when couples are having a problem, about half the time it’s a male factor.” He encourages men not only to be included in these discussions, but to take an active role in their own health evaluations.
Here’s a longer, more exhaustive discussion from 2023.
