Travel Reset
Settling back into routines, a baking soda produce rinse, and a cryptocurrency podcast to round things out.
TRAVEL RESET
There’s the love of travel — and then there’s the love of settling back into routines and nourishing practices when back home. Here are a few of my favorite ways to reset.
Upgraded water (and more water) to start the day. Warm, filtered water with electrolytes and creatine, then another glass of hydrogen water.
Protein before mold-free coffee.
Lymphatic support: Gua sha, dry brushing, & trampoline jumps.
Red light. I have the Joovv device but there are several options on the market. Most importantly, you want one with wavelengths between 620-750 nm for effective skin and tissue penetration. Bon Charge is another choice.
Frownies. Men and women alike can benefit from this natural “botox” especially after travel where sleep is disrupted and fine lines appear less fine. Made from unbleached Kraft paper and water-activated starch, they work like a tiny cast for your forehead. Learn how to apply here.
Fragrance-free epsom soak bath. Castor oil wrap before bed.
Face mask depending on need: Shani Darden Signature Peel and/or just good ole’ healing manuka honey.
Grounding mat or go touch the earth with bare feet.
BAKING SODA SOAK
Quick PSA: the most effective — and inexpensive — way to remove pesticides from fruits and vegetables is a simple baking soda soak. A 2017 study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found this method removed up to 96% of certain pesticides, far outperforming rinsing with water or vinegar.
Add 1 tsp baking soda per 2 cups of water, soak for approximately 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Note: I certainly don’t measure. I just eyeball it, adding a generous amount of baking soda and ensuring I give a good rinse at the end.
THE SHAWN RYAN SHOW: Brian Armstrong, Co-Founder and CEO of Coinbase
As someone who knows little beyond the basics, I found this podcast with Brian Armstrong, founder of Coinbase, the largest U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange, informative, offering valuable historical context as well as insights into the future of crypto.
Wishing you all a wonderful wrap to August. - Briana
